What is job profile of Draughtsman in an army?
The work of the Draughtsman mainly is kept in the DRAWING/TECHNICAL WING which is as follows:
Junior Draughtsman is the junior most members of the drawing staff. He is generally entrusted with the work of tracing maintenance of record and registers and other routine jobs of checking etc. while other cases are dealt with by the Draughtsman who are more experienced. Draughtsman will also assist the Planning Assistant in Head Office, Circle Head Draughtsman in Circle Office, and Divisional Head Draughtsman in Divisional Office, as needed, in keeping proper files of all technical circulars and standing instructions issued by the Engineer-in-Chief/Chief Engineer.
He'll be in charge of double-checking any estimates received from subordinate offices. He will be in charge of preparing and checking special/annual repairs as well as other associated estimates for all types of projects.
He will be in charge of preparing quantity schedules, comparative statements, and justifications for calling/processing tender cases. Processing of Extra/substituted item deviation statements and claims for all types of contracts are processed. Both departmental checks of work orders and consumption of materials provided from the stores for work execution are done.
He would also be responsible for initiating revision indexes and yardsticks for building construction and maintenance, water supply schemes, irrigation schemes and projects, and so on.
He must keep a Division building register on the prescribed form with the building's completion plan. He will also be in charge of maintaining the registers, as well as Technical Sanction and submitted estimates for all types of projects.
The post that comes out in the army/Defence at the place of Draughtsman is Sub Divisional Officer Grade-II and this post carries All India Service Liability (AISL). Thus, the candidates selected for appointment are liable to serve anywhere to INDIA.
Educational Qualification: High school (10th) with Diploma or Certificate course of a recognized Institute in Draughtsman (Civil)/Surveying branch of not less than 02 years course.
Exam Pattern: Selection process have two stage:
First Stage: There will be written test of 150 marks with 02 hours timing duration. The test paper will be in Hindi and English Language. There will be 100 questions related to technical subject , 25 questions related to General Knowledge & Aptitude and 25 questions will be related to General English.
Second Stage: Skill test, the skill test shall be held on next day of written test and it shall be qualifying nature.
Syllabus of Skill Test: Short listed candidates, who qualify the written test will have to appear in skill test to test their handling capability of Electronic Total Station and other practical aspects of Land survey.
