The dot plots show how long it took students in Mr. Chauncey's two science classes to finish their science homework last night. Find the means to make an inference about the data.

In this post, I'll explain what problem-solving expert dashboards questions are and walk through a few examples with answers.

Some expert dashboards can ask you questions to help you pass your expert test in mathematics disciplines that involve critical thinking and problem-solving. These questions may be used to assess your analytical abilities and determine how innovative you can be when solving difficulties at work.

Question 1

The dot plots show how long it took students in Mr. Chauncey's two science classes to finish their science homework last night. Find the means to make an inference about the data.

Find the Means:

Mean = to calculate for mean multiply the number with the number of dots on the line and add the total then divide by the number of total dots.

Step 1:

Mean for first period classes,

Mean ={(20 x 2)+(25x 2)+(30x 4)+(35x 3)+(45x 2)+(50x 3)+(55x 4)}/20

Mean ={(40)+(50)+(120)+(105)+(90)+(150)+(220)}/20

Mean ={775}/{20}

Mean =38.75

Step 2:

Mean for second-period classes,

Mean ={(15x 1)+(20x 2)+(25x 4)+(30x 4)+(35x 2)+(45x 3)+(50x 1)+(55x 2)+(60x 1}/{20}

Mean ={(15)+(40)+(100)+(120)+(70)+(135)+(50)+(110)+(60)}/{20}

Mean ={700}/{20}

Mean =35

Solution :

The first period mean is 38.75. The second period mean is 35. Students in the first period took slightly longer on average to complete their homework than students in the second-period session.

or

The first period mean is 38.75. The second period mean is 35. On average, it took students in the period's class slightly longer to finish their homework than it did the students in the second-period class.

Question 2

Marta bought new fish for her home aquarium. She bought 3 guppies and 2 platies for a total of $13.95. Hank also bought guppies and platies for his aquarium. He bought 3 guppies and 4 platies for a total of $18.33. Find the price of a guppy and the price of platy.

Step 1:

To this problem, we'll need to know both Marta and Hunk's situations, so let's look at them separately,

Step 2:

Marta bought 3 Guppies and 2 Platies for a total of $13.95

So, Price of 3 Guppies {$13.95}/{5}x 3

Price of 3 Guppies ={$2.79} x 3

Price of 3 Guppies =$8.37

Step 3:

Price of 2 Platies = {$13.95}/{5}x 2

Price of 2 Platies ={$2.79}x 2

Price of 2 Platies =$5.58

Step 4:

Hank bought 3 Guppies and 4 Platies for a total of $18.33

So, Price of 3 Guppies = $18.33}/{7}x 3

Price of 3 Guppies ={$2.62} x 3

Price of 3 Guppies =$7.85

Step 5:

Price of 4 Platies = {$18.33}/{7}x 4

Price of 4 Platies ={$2.62}x 4

Price of 4 Platies =$10.48

Solution :

Marta bought 3 Guppies for $8.37 and 2 Platies for $5.58, Hank also bought 3 guppies for $7.85 and 4 platies for $10.48

Step 1:

We know that,

The area of the window = The area of a rectangle + The area of two-quarter Circles + The area of the smaller square between the two upper corners.

Step 2:

Find the area of the rectangle

Step 3:

Find the area of the two quarter circle

Step 4:

Find the area of the smaller square between the two upper corners

Solution :

The total area of the window is equal to

Question 4

When 18 boys joined a group of y students the ratio of boys to girls in a group became 4:5 write an algebraic expression for the number of girls in terms of y.

Step 1:

Ratio of boys to girls in the group is 4:5

B/ G = 4/5

Step 2:

Given that, the number of 18 boys joined a group of Y students

18 + y = 4

Step 3:

B/ G = 4/5

18+Y /G =4/5

5(18+y) = 4G

90 + 5Y = 4G

G = 90+5Y/4

Solution :

The an algebraic expression for the number of girls in terms of y.

G = 90+5Y/4
