The institute was relocated to Delhi on July 29, 1936, following a catastrophic earthquake on January 15, 1934. The institute was renamed Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) after independence.
The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) currently has 20 divisions, five multidisciplinary centers in Delhi, eight regional stations, two off-season nurseries, three all-India coordinated research projects with headquarters at IARI, and ten national centers operating under the all-India coordinated research projects. It has a sanctioned staff of 3540 people, including scientific, technical, administrative, and support workers.

- The ICAR Technician Computer Based Test (CBT) will consist of 100 Objective Type Questions (MCQs).
- The CBT for the ICAR IARI Technician paper will take 90 minutes in total (1.5 Hrs.).
- For each correct answer, candidates will receive one mark. For each wrong response, (0.25) will be deducted.
- The exam will be given in both Bilingual languages both in Hindi & English for papers 1, 2, 3 and 4.
- There will be No Interview.
