What is IPS Flooring?

IPS flooring stands for Indian Patent Stone flooring. It's a type of flooring commonly used in India, known for its durability and simplicity.


Key Characteristics:

Composition: A mixture of cement, sand, and aggregate (like marble or stone chips)

Finish: Smooth, even surface, often polished for a glossy look

Durability: Resistant to wear and tear, suitable for high-traffic areas

Installation: Typically laid on a concrete base, finished with a layer of cement and sand


IPS flooring is popular for its affordability and ease of maintenance. It is a cement concrete flooring laid over a PCC base. It’s typically laid in panels to control shrinkage cracks and finished with a steel trowel for a smooth surface.


⚙️ Technical Specifications

  • Mix Ratio: 1:1.5:3 (Cement: Sand: Aggregate)
  • Base Layer: PCC (usually 1:4:8)
  • Thickness:
  • Residential: 25–50 mm
  • Industrial: 75–150 mm
  • Curing Time: Minimum 7–14 days to ensure strength and prevent cracks


🛠️ Execution Process

  1. Surface Preparation: Clean and level the base.
  2. Level Marking: Use leveling instruments and dummy dots.
  3. Paneling: Divide the area into 2–3 m² panels using glass/brass/aluminum strips.
  4. Concrete Laying: Pour and compact the mix.
  5. Finishing: Trowel finish with optional punning for shine.
  6. Curing: Essential for long-term durability.

  • Economical (₹60–₹80/sq.ft.)
  • Low maintenance
  • Customizable with colors and patterns
  • Suitable for heavy foot traffic and industrial loads
