What is difference between erection and repair in civil engineering?

Difference between Erection and Repair in Civil Engineering

Erection is the process of gathering all components and equipment required for the plant's construction as specified by the engineering design. The erection procedure encompasses everything from paving paths to constructing the main structure to carefully aligning equipment and machines. The process of erection is the installation of the physical structure and instruments for the process plant, which is followed by commissioning. Erection is planning and testing the physical side of the site in preparation for the latest piece of equipment.

The entire erection, testing, and commissioning process can be broken down into following categories:

  • Construction Site Management and Supervision
  • General construction site management and organisation
  • Construction site planning,
  • coordination and administration
  • Supervision of erection and installation work
  • Coordination of commissioning and plant tests
  • Acceptance and performance tests, plant take-overs
  • Quality and safety management

Repair is the process of enhancing an existing building to meet new requirements. Its goal is to return the structure to its previous level of service, which it no longer possesses. In certain circumstances, this entails providing the structure with the service level that was intended but could not be achieved due to design and/or construction flaws.

The services listed below must be maintained on a regular basis. It causes problems for the tenants if it is not done on a regular basis, and it also raises the cost of a future problem because it was not maintained when it was needed.
  • Transformers and switch gears are used in power supply installations.
  • Motors, pumps, and valves are used in water supply systems.
  • Air conditioners, ventilators, and air circulatory are all examples of ventilation.
  • Installations for water heating.
  • Pumps in tube-wells. Elevators.
